Hi, I’m Sophie and I love words.
I started using them at 9 months old (not to brag) and haven’t really stopped since. My first one was “Ta” and my first sentence was “More cheese please.” Don’t worry, I definitely know more words now, though I think gratitude and cheese were a solid place to start.
I was 12 when I first discovered the power of a great speech.
As someone who was qualified but not popular enough to be School Captain, I figured my best shot was to be memorable. I had a clear message, clever puns, commanded my 90 seconds, and if all else failed, I had props. I’ve still got the badge.
I was also 12 when I first realized the power of a bad speech. Or worse, a boring one. Spending most weekends at Bar or Bat Mitzvah’s listening to family and friends reciting platitudes really highlighted how love and pride aren’t quite enough for a good speech. “To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may just be the world” will forever be seared into my memory. (Apologies if you’re a fan of that one, but Honestly Speechless is a cliche-free enterprise.)
Once I grew up (whatever that means), I chose to study journalism, and then much to the horror of my grandmother, I went to Drama school to become an actor.
What do these two things have in common you might ask? Storytelling.
The truth is I just love people, their stories, and finding ways to tell them. And lucky for me (and for you), I’ve had a long time to hone those skills - from performing on stage and screen, to presentations for corporate America, to stand-up comedy in dingy pubs to live camera crosses at red carpet events.
One time I was also a Christmas Elf on a bike handing out shoes,
however that’s unrelated.
So why should you entrust me to help you write the speech for one of your big life moments?
Because no one wants you to nail that speech more than me.
Those special life moments are simply opportunities I don’t want anyone to waste. I want everyone to know the buzz of delivering a speech that people talk about for years - the ones that have everyone laughing and crying and make you feel like a rockstar. Because EVERYONE deserves that and I firmly believe everyone has it in them to give one. By hitting just the right balance of humor and heart, I’ve helped lots of people make speeches worthy of the occasions they were written for. I say go big or go home. Your words can last a lifetime. Might as well make sure it’s for the right reasons.
I can’t wait to show you just how great your speech can be too.
“I thought the speech I had was great, but Sophie took it from fine to fantastic.”
